There are many scams on the web but generally you'll find more people who just like you are genuine and you should not be put off selling or buying online by the few 'scammers' you may come across

  1. Email from Southwestfreeads requesting your personal details
Southwestfreeads will never ask for your personal details in an email nor we will we ask for your password or email you to check your details online. If you recieve an emnail like this please contact us through our contact page with the details you have been sent. We will respond to this straight away and inform the authorities if required.
  2. Never accept cheques for more than the required amount of the item you are selling.
Scammers will try and send you a cheque for more than the amount and ask you to send the difference back to them or a third party. Cheques can clear into your account only to be refused weeks later.
  3. Working from Home
Any jobs offering work from home must be fully vetted by you, some jobs may ask you to cash cheques and these can be ways of money laundering.
  4. Fake Credit Card sites
Be aware when passing any money over the internet that the site you are actually on is the site it represents. Fraudsters set up fake websites offering to take credit card transactions, make sure the site you use is not fake.
